BLS Provider

The BLS Provider course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills (CPR, AED) for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. 

This is an American Heart Association class.

What is covered in this course

  • The steps of the Chains of Survival
  • How to perform high-quality CPR for an adult, a child and an infant
  • How to use an AED
  • Effective team dynamics in a multi rescuer resuscitation
  • How to treat special considerations in basic life support
  • How to relieve foreign body airway obstruction for an adult, a child and an infant

During the course there is physical activity and hands-on practice.

Students will be performing physical activity during the course while performing CPR.

At the conclusion of the course students will need to complete the 25 questions written test.

The course is available for all students.

  • Students whose certification has expired
  • Students who are taking BLS for the first time
  • Students who prefer learning in a classroom environment
  • Students who have a non AHA BLS Provider certification.

You do not have to be a medical professional to take this class. Non-medical personnel can take this class for CPR and AED training and receive the same AHA BLS certification.

The BLS Renewal Class is for those who are currently AHA BLS certified and needing to renew their certification.

This is an American Heart Association class.

Students are required to have a currrent AHA BLS Provider certification for this class.

The BLS HeartCode\Skills Checkoff class is available to all students (new, expired, have other certification type.

This is an American Heart Association class.

Students need to complete the BLS Online prior to the classroom session.

ACLS is an advanced course that builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-qualify CPR, and high-performance team dynamics.

The course is available to all students.

  • Students whose certification has expired
  • Students who are taking ACLS for the first time
  • Students who prefer the classroom learning Format
  • Students who have a non AHA ACLS Provider certification. 
  • Students who are renewing their ACLS certification and prefer the two day format


The course covers

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and user of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia or tachycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS (acute coronary syndrome)  and stroke
  • Effective communication as a team member and leader of a resuscitation team
ACLS Pretest and Precourse work
  • The ACLS Pretest and Precourse work are required to be completed prior to the class and the pretest and precourse completion certificate must be brought to class or emailed to info@edcor.net prior to the class. Precourse work may take up to a few hours.

ACLS Provider (2-days in 1)

ACLS is an advanced course that builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-qualify CPR, and high-performance team dynamics.

The ACLS Provider (2 day in 1 class) is an accelerated format of the two day class. This course is not recommended for those who are newer to preforming ACLS skills.  Completion of the precourse work and study material is vital to prepare for this class since it is accelerated.

The course is available to all students.

  • Students whose certification has expired
  • Students who are taking ACLS for the first time (not recommended without much pre-study)
  • Students who prefer the classroom learning Format
  • Students who have a non AHA ACLS Provider certification

PALS is an advanced course for healthcare provider who respond to emergency in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

The course is available to all students.

  • Students who are taking PALS for the first time
  • Students who prefer the classroom learning Format
  • Students who have a non AHA PALS Provider certification. 
  • Students who are renewing their PALS certification and prefer the two day format


The course covers

The PALS course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shot, and cardiopulmonary arrest.

  • Perform high-quality CPR 
  • Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early 
  • Apply Team Dynamics
  • Differentiate between respiratory destress and failure
  • Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias

ASLS

The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) class is designed to help in-hospital and prehospital healthcare professionals identify, evaluate and manage patients with stroke.

The course was developed by the American Heart association in partnership with The University of Miami's Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education with a shared goal of reducing deaths and disabilities for stroke victims.

The class is a blended learning course requiring students to complete the applicable online module prior to the classroom session. There is a separate fee for the online modules when purchasing them from AHA.

For the self-directed online modules students select which track they want to follow

  • Prehospital
    • Highlights the principles of prehospital stroke management that make up the current standard of care, such as determining when to call a stroke alert and quickly transport the patient to the nearest appropriate facility.
    • Explains how to communicate the patient's symptions, time of onset and neurologic exam clearly and succinctly with hospital personnel.
  • In-Hospital
    • Focues on the importance of an organized approach to treaking stroke patients for improved outcomes.
    • Discusses the etiologic evaluation and secondary stroke prevention for stroke patients.
    • Describes the management of goals for acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
    • Outlines post-acute care management including supportive medical care, rehabilitation and discharge.

    • Combines all the components of the Prehospital and In-Hospital courses, and is best suited for healthcare providers who work in both environments.

The Heartsaver First-Aid and CPR\AED class is a classroom based class, with video lessons, instructor-led lessons and lots of hands practice. The Heartsaver First-Aid\CPR\AED skills class is a blended learning class. Students complete the online modules consisting of video lessons, learning lessons and sims online and then attend a classroom session for hands on modules.

  • The access code for the online module is included in the course registration fee and will be sent by EdCor to your email upon registering and payment for the class. The email comes from elearning@heart.org.
  • If you have already completed the online component and only need to pay for the classroom session please call EdCor at 303.997.8695 to register over the phone so we can reduce the registration fee based upon you already having the online component completed.

Stop the Bleed

Minutes Count! Someone who is severly bleeding can bleed to death in as little as 5 minutes. That's why bleeding control-keeping the blood inside the body is so important.

The EdCor Stop the Bleed course utilizes the American College of Surgions (ACS) stopthebleed.org curircullum using a presentation and hands on practice approach.

The course is available to anyone and all ages.

QMAP Classroom (2-day)

The Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) class

Teaches unlicensed staff members to safely administer medications in certain settings where it's authorized by law. This course does not lead to certification or licensure. You will be considered "Qualified" to administer medications.

Course Flow

  1. Complete the online pre-course modules. Upon registering for the class you will recieve emails with your User ID and Temporary password and a link to the QMAP online pre-course.
    • This must be completed prior to the classroom portion.
  2. Attend the classroom portion of the class that includes
    1. Learning lessions
    2. Discussions
    3. Videos
    4. Hands on practice
    5. Practice exercises
    6. Homework
  3. Complete and pass the the written test
  4. Pass the hands on skills assessment

Pre-requisites

QMAP Retest

You must have attended a EdCor QMAP or QMAP online class within the last 60 days to attend a QMAP Retest class.

  1. The QMAP retest is on day 2 of a standard QMAP class
  2. You will be taking the written test and the hands on testing

Pre-requisites

  • Students must, read, write and speak English.
  • Students should have basic math skills.
  • Student must bring a valid photo ID to the class.
  • Ahead of the class review your materials from your original class and study any sections you had difficulty with
  • Go back through the QMAP online modules.

Upon succesful completion of the class students receive a certificate of completion and are added to the State of Colorado QMAP registry.

You will be required to supply a copy of your current TNCC certification either by bringing it to the class or you can email it to info@edcor.net prior to the class.
  • Students that do not have a current TNCC Provider certification as of the date of the class should register for the TNCC Provider (2-Day) class.

AHA BLS Instructor class.

The BLS Instructor class is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA instructor led and blended learing BLS courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet the learning objectives, offer student coaching, provide objective skills performance evaluation and follow AHA instructor policies.

Class Requirements

1) Have A Current AHA BLS Provider Certification

  • You will need to bring a copy of your current\non-expired AHA BLS Provider certification.
  • If you do not have a current\non-expired AHA BLS Provider certification or your certification is from an organization other than AHA please register for a BLS Provider class for a date earlier than the instructor class.

2) The completed BLS Instructor essentials

  • This is included in the course registration fee and will be sent to you from elearning@aha.org upon payment for the class.
  • You will need to bring a copy of the online completion certificate or email it to info@edcor.net ahead of the class.
  • If you are not able to access the online completion certificate please ensure you have completed the survey at the end of the course.

3) A BLS Instructor Manual

  • The BLS instructor manual is included in the registration fee and will be mailed to you upon payment for the class.
  • If you are registering for the class less than 14 days prior to the class please call EdCor at 303.997.8695 to coordinate getting the instructor manual at the Lakewood office.
  • The manual should be reviewed and organized into a binder prior to the class.

4) Complete the EdCor Training Site Agreement and bring to class.

5) Review and have available the Instructor Essentials Workbook.

After the class students will need to successfully teach at least 1 monitoring class. Details of options for scheduling a monitoring class will be provided during the instructor class.
 
 
Upon successful completion of the BLS Instructor class and the monitoring class students, will be able to teach the AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) or the AHA Heartsaver CPR curriculums within their organization\company, teach for themselves as an independent instructor or teach for an existing AHA training company.
 
Upon successful completion students will be issued a AHA BLS Instructor certification valid for two years.
Heartsaver Instructor

  • You can bring an existing manual to class if have one or your facility has them available.
  • If you do not purchase the required materials or have them available at class and pick them at class or have them sent to you at the class, if you have a card on file the charges will be charged to the card on file.
