AHA ACLS Instructor class

The ACLS Instructor class is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA instructor led ACLS courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet the learning objectives, offer student coaching, provide objective skills performance evaluation and follow AHA instructor policies.

The purpose of an ACLS Instructor Course is to develop proficiency in teaching, organizing, coordinating and conducting an ACLS Provider Course. ACLS Instructors must have a firm working knowledge and understanding of the ACLS material. They are also expected to demonstrate in-depth detailed knowledge of current emergency cardiac care.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a current AHA ACLS Provider Certifcation
  • Complete the AHA ACLS Instructor Essentials online (included in the registration fee for the course)
  • Complete the ACLS Precourse online work
  • Have and review the ACLS Instructor manual (included in the registation fee for the course)
    • Will be mailed to the address you provide when you register for the class. If registering within 14 days of the class it will have to be picked up at the EdCor Lakewood office.
  • Be aligned with the EdCor Training Center

Note: EdCor encourages ACLS instructor candidates to first have a BLS Instructor certification.

Process to become an ACLS Instructor

  • Register for a ACLS Instructor 
  • Complete the ACLS Instructor essentials online
  • Attend the ACLS Instructor class
  • Complete two instructor monitorings
    • An ACLS Provider 2 day course
    • An ACLS Renewal 1 day course

Upon successful completion students will be issued a AHA ACLS Instructor certification valid for two year, allowing them to be a secondary instructor for ACLS Provider and Reenwal classes and to conduct ACLS HeartCode\Skills Checkoff classes. The process and timeline to be a ACLS Course Director is dependent on the instructors experience and freqency of teaching.

The instructor manual and instructor essentials is included in the registration fee for the class.

 

Corporate\Direct Bill Students

  • If you are affiliated with a Employer or Group that has a contracted rate or allows for direct billing.
  • Select the appropriate selection within the Registration Type.
  • This will display the contracted price or the deposit amount based upon selected Employer\Group. If the Employer\Group allows for direct billing, your payment\deposit will be refunded to you when you show up to the class and the Employer\Group will be invoiced.
  • If the invoice is denied or rejected by the Employer\Group you are responsible for payment and all materials
  • If you select an Employer\Group for which you are not authorized for, you are responsbile for payement for the class and all materials.

Class Materials (manuals, online key codes)

  • Class materials if needed can be purchased while registering for the class.
  • You can bring an existing manual to class if have one or your facility has them available.
  • If you do not purchase the required materials or have them available at class and pick them at class or have them sent to you at the class, if you have a card on file the charges will be charged to the card on file. If you do not have a card on file you will be sent an invoice, we are not able to issue certifications when there is an outstanding balance.

 If your schedule changes please contact EdCor as early as possible to avoid any fees and to allow the slot in the class to be opened to another student.
