AHA PALS Instructor class
The PALS Instructor class is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA instructor led PALS courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet the learning objectives, offer student coaching, provide objective skills performance evaluation and follow AHA instructor policies.
The purpose of an PALS Instructor Course is to develop proficiency in teaching, organizing, coordinating and conducting an PALS Provider Course. PALS Instructors must have a firm working knowledge and understanding of the PALS material. They are also expected to demonstrate in-depth detailed knowledge of current emergency cardiac care.

Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a current AHA PALS Provider Certifcation
- Complete the AHA PALS Instructor Essentials online (included in the registration fee for the course)
- Complete the PALS Precourse online work
- Have and review the PALS Instructor manual (included in the registation fee for the course)
- Will be mailed to the address you provide when you register for the class. If registering within 14 days of the class it will have to be picked up at the EdCor Lakewood office.
- Be aligned with the EdCor Training Center
Note: EdCor encourages PALS instructor candidates to first have a BLS Instructor certification.
Process to become an PALS Instructor
- Register for a PALS Instructor
- Complete the PALS Instructor essentials online
- Attend the ACLS Instructor class
- Complete two instructor monitorings
- An PALS Provider 2 day course
- An PALS Renewal 1 day course
Upon successful completion students will be issued a AHA PALS Instructor certification valid for two year, allowing them to be a secondary instructor for PALS Provider and Reenwal classes and to conduct PALS HeartCode\Skills Checkoff classes. The process and timeline to be a PALS Course Director is dependent on the instructors experience and freqency of teaching.
