PALS is an advanced course for healthcare provider who respond to emergency in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

The course is available to all students.

  • Students whose certification has expired
  • Students who are taking PALS for the first time
  • Students who prefer the classroom learning Format
  • Students who have a non AHA PALS Provider certification. 
  • Students who are renewing their PALS certification and prefer the two day format


The course covers

The PALS course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shot, and cardiopulmonary arrest.

  • Perform high-quality CPR 
  • Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early 
  • Apply Team Dynamics
  • Differentiate between respiratory destress and failure
  • Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Describe clinical characteristics of  instability in patients with arrhythmias
  • Implement post-cardiac arrest management
PALS Pretest and Precourse work
  • The PALS Pretest and Precourse work are required to be completed prior to the class and the pretest and precourse completion certificate must be brought to class or emailed to info@edcor.net prior to the class. Precourse work may take up to a few hours.Preparation is important for success in this class.
  • The precourse work can be accessed via PALS Precourse Work and will be available in the confrimation email.
BLS
  • BLS recertification is offered at this class. To renew your BLS, select BLS as an additional item during your registration (in the books section of the registration process). Your instructor will review the infant portion of BLS along with the adult portion that is already included in the ACLS curriculum. You will be required to take the BLS written test at the end of the class

The 2020 PALS Provider Student Manual is required for each student for this class.

Additional Study Materials

  • Additional online study materials is available when registering for the class or by searching classes for PALS self-study\eLearning classes.

Successful students receive an AHA eCertification valid for two years. The certification will be issued to the email you use to register for the class.

Select your Employer\Group to display the price.

Registrations for discounted Employer\Groups is verified with the Employer\Group.
If you select an Employer\Group for which you are not authorized for or the invoice is denied by the organization, you are responsible for the class fees.

Please choose from the following items. Students are required to have a student manual during class. Unless shipping is selected items are available for pickup at the EdCor Lakewood office or at the start of class. For items to be shipped you must register for the class at least 7 business days prior to the class. Items are shipped via USPS.

 

Corporate\Direct Bill Students

  • If you are affiliated with a Employer or Group that has a contracted rate or allows for direct billing.
  • Select the appropriate selection within the Registration Type.
  • This will display the contracted price or the deposit amount based upon selected Employer\Group. If the Employer\Group allows for direct billing, your payment\deposit will be refunded to you when you show up to the class and the Employer\Group will be invoiced.
  • If the invoice is denied or rejected by the Employer\Group you are responsible for payment and all materials
  • If you select an Employer\Group for which you are not authorized for, you are responsbile for payement for the class and all materials.

Class Materials (manuals, online key codes)

  • Class materials if needed can be purchased while registering for the class.
  • You can bring an existing manual to class if have one or your facility has them available.
  • If you do not purchase the required materials or have them available at class and pick them at class or have them sent to you at the class, if you have a card on file the charges will be charged to the card on file. If you do not have a card on file you will be sent an invoice, we are not able to issue certifications when there is an outstanding balance.

 If your schedule changes please contact EdCor as early as possible to avoid any fees and to allow the slot in the class to be opened to another student.
