PALS is an advanced course for healthcare provider who respond to emergency in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
The course is available to
- Students that have a current American Heart Association PALS Provider certification.
- If you do not have a current American Heart Association PALS Provider certification please register for a provider or a Heartcode\Skills format.
The course covers
The PALS course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shot, and cardiopulmonary arrest.
- Perform high-quality CPR
- Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
- Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early
- Apply Team Dynamics
- Differentiate between respiratory destress and failure
- Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
- Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
- Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock
- Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
- Describe clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
- Implement post-cardiac arrest management
PALS Pretest and Precourse work
- The PALS Pretest and Precourse work are required to be completed prior to the class and the pretest and precourse completion certificate must be brought to class or emailed to info@edcor.net prior to the class. Precourse work may take up to a few hours.Preparation is important for success in this class.
- The precourse work can be accessed via PALS Precourse Work and will be available in the confrimation email.
BLS
- BLS recertification is offered at this class. To renew your BLS, select BLS as an additional item during your registration (in the books section of the registration process). Your instructor will review the infant portion of BLS along with the adult portion that is already included in the ACLS curriculum. You will be required to take the BLS written test at the end of the class
The 2020 PALS Provider Student Manual is required for each student for this class.

Successful students receive an AHA eCertification valid for two years. The certification will be issued to the email you use to register for the class.
